frog egg update

day 6 - click photo to view larger

We've had them about a week now and it's really exciting to see them change shape, daily.
They went from round, to apple-seed and now to a crescent shape, all the subtle changes being totally visible to the naked eye which is what I think is so cool about doing this. We are keeping the aquarium outside - just by the kitchen door, so it's easy to check in on them frequently and note changes as they happen.

We don't know if the eggs that remain unchanged are dead or if they are just behind in development at this point. Kale figures they should have grown by now, right along with the others, being from the same blob of eggs and all. So his guess is (from our research so far) that they must be ones that just didn't survive as there is always a number that don't.

Soon we will revisit the marsh for fresh pond water, a few live pond plants (likely a couple of reeds and lily pads for them to hide under) and to compare the eggs that are still growing there to the ones we brought home.

We'll plan to carefully return everything back to the location which we borrowed it when the time comes that we have frog-lets that want to be wild....
